Metrology Solutions for Hydro Plant

Client Overview

A leading government organization in India’s power sector partnered with Voxel 3D Tech to implement advanced metrology solutions at one of their major hydroelectric plants. The objective was to support precision manufacturing, installation, maintenance, and comprehensive asset lifecycle management for critical turbine systems.

Challenges & Requirements

NHPC required high-precision solutions for multiple aspects of their hydro plant operation:
  • Accurate measurement of turbine components during manufacturing
  • Precise alignment during installation to ensure optimal turbine performance
  • Inspection and monitoring for predictive maintenance
  • Better asset management through reliable data capture

Our Solution

  • Voxel 3D Tech deployed high-resolution 3D scanning technology to address each of NHPC’s operational requirements across the turbine lifecycle. Our solution was focused on four key pillars:

Manufacturing Precision

  • Delivered precise measurements of turbine components using advanced 3D scanning
  • Helped NHPC meet stringent quality standards for hydro turbine production

Alignment and Installation

  • Used 3D scanning to ensure accurate alignment of turbines during installation
  • Helped maximize energy efficiency and reduce mechanical stress over time

Maintenance and Monitoring

  • Conducted detailed 3D inspections for early detection of wear, misalignment, or deformation
  • Enabled predictive maintenance, reducing unplanned downtime

Asset Management

  • Provided accurate metrology data for better asset lifecycle decisions
  • Supported NHPC in enhancing the reliability and cost-effectiveness of the hydro facility
